NSDCAC 3rd Annual September Breakfast and Community Forum, “Democracy in Action: Community Engagement in Voter Education”

On Saturday, the 22nd, NSDCAC hosted its 3rd Annual September Breakfast and Community Forum at the Ida and Cecil Green Faculty Club at the University of California, San Diego. In view of the upcoming November 2018 midterm elections,  the event theme chosen was entitled, “Democracy in Action: Community Engagement in Voter Education”. The objective was to encourage community members to become engaged, informed, self-aware, and therefore more active participants in our democracy. The program format featured The Honorable Randa Trapp, Judge of San Diego Superior Court; a Distinguished Guest Panel including Satia Austin, President/CEO, North County NAACP Chapter; Dr. Dayo Gore, Professor/Chair, Ethnic Studies Department, UC San Diego; Norma Mtume, Marriage and Family Therapist/former member of Black Panther Party; Al Abdallah, CEO Urban League of San Diego County. Speakers elaborated on various aspects of the U.S. electoral process, voter behavior, community involvement strategies/ initiatives, and the participation rate of women and people of color. There were over sixty guests in attendance, as well as additional involving a Silent Auction with theme gift baskets, delicious baked goods, 50/50 raffle, and a School Supply Drive to benefit Vista Academy for Performing Arts.

Join us as we host NSDCAC’s 3rd Annual September Breakfast and Community Forum on the 22nd of September at the Ida & Cecil Green Faculty Club, UC San Diego. The event’s theme entitled, “Democracy in Action – Community Engagement in Voter Education will feature The Honorable Randa Trapp, San Diego County Superior Court Judge, and include a panel of distinguished academic professionals and civic leaders. We are looking forward to an informative and engaging discussion on the topic of voter education and active community participation in our democracy! Please bring school supplies to be donated to Vista Academy of Performing Arts.

The Sorors of North San Diego County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated presented a Triple Crown Event at the Third Annual Delta Day at the Races at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club on September 25, 2018. Sorors and Guests enjoyed the Excitement of the races, Fellowship with amazing people and Philanthropy in contributing to scholarships for college-bound high school students in the local community.  See Gallery to the right for more photos ——->>

Delta Day at the Races

Come out for an afternoon of entertainment at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club with the North San Diego County Alumnae Chapter(NSDCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Enjoy reserved seating at the Clubhouse Terrace Restaurant close to the finish line. Reserved table seating is for four, and there will be a complimentary appetizer at each table. You will receive a racing program guide to help you keep up with the action. You will also have the chance to participate in various fun activities throughout the afternoon. So bring your spouse, your kids, or a friend to enjoy the festivities. As a fundraiser event of the North San Diego County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc., the proceeds will support scholarships for college-bound high school students in the local community and other chapter programs. It is guaranteed to be an afternoon of fun and excitement, so be sure to join us on Saturday, August 25th, 2018. Tickets in our reserved seating area are $55.00 per person and can be purchased through EventBrite. Your actual ticket for admission into the Del Mar venue will be mailed to all guests prior to the start of the event. Tickets can also be purchased offline (no fees apply) by mailing a check directly to the chapter. Checks should be made payable to Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) for a tax deductible contribution, or made payable directly to Delta Sigma Theta.
